Speech notes for WSC's speech (3 February 1928, Town Hall, Birmingham), entitled "Liberal Party Economic Policy" on the next General Election, the Government's economic record, criticism from Philip Snowden [former Chancellor of the Exchequer], cuts in the Fighting Services, the betting tax and Ramsay MacDonald [Leader of the Opposition]'s views on it, income tax and Liberal economic policy. Source material includes press cuttings from the Times reporting Arthur Henderson's [later Lord Rowley, Labour MP for Burnley, Lancashire] speech on the next General Election, and Ramsay MacDonald on the Totalisator.
