Speech notes for WSC's speech (21 October, Albert Hall, Nottingham), entitled "Government and Economy" on the Government's record, the Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin, the sound economy, Labour tax plans, the Conservative social policy and Socialist insincerity. Source material includes a press cutting reporting a speech by Philip Snowden [former Labour Chancellor of the Exchequer] on the economy. Typescript for WSC's draft press statement (14 November), replying to David Lloyd George [Leader of the Liberal Party] on the improving economy, severing diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, and trade with the Soviet Union. Also includes a note from [Ralph Hawtrey, Treasury], commenting on the statement.
