CHAR 28/53/1 Letter from James Welldon ([Harrow School, Middlesex]) to Lady Randolph [Churchill] in which he discusses arrangements concerning WSC and an appointment with [Bernard] Minssen. He observes that WSC must work while he is staying with [Bernard] Minssen to improve his French, and urges that he should only be allowed to see limited numbers of English-speaking people and says that he is determined that WSC should be accepted by Sandhurst. CHAR 28/53/5 Letter from James Welldon (Harrow School [Middlesex]) to Lady Randolph [Churchill] in which he says that he feels "a deep and keen regret" at her decision [to take "Jack" [John S Churchill] away from school and says that he will treasure the photograph which she sent him and will always be prepared to help them. 11 Dec 1896
CHAR 28/53/6 Letter from James Welldon (Harrow School [Middlesex]) to Lady Randolph [Churchill] in which he discusses "Jack's" [John S Churchill's] future career, advises that he should learn Greek and should spend six months with a master before going to Oxford and comments that "Jack" is "old for his years" and on his own unselfishness in advising that he should be taken away from school. 08 Dec 1896
