Includes drafts and copies of letters sent out in the name of the Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin, to the following ministers on reducing their departmental expenditure for 1928-1929: William Bridgeman, First Lord of the Admiralty; Sir William Joynson Hicks [later 1st Lord Brentford], Home Secretary; Secretary of State for Air, Sir Samuel Hoare [later 1st Lord Templewood]; Secretary of State for the Colonies and Dominions, Leo Amery; Minister of Health, Neville Chamberlain; Secretary of State for Scotland, Sir John Gilmour; Secretary of State for War, Sir Laming Worthington-Evans; President of the Board of Education, Lord Eustace Percy.

Also includes: notes and minutes from various Treasury officials, including Alfred Hurst and James Grigg [Principal Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer]; correspondence from Hoare, Hicks, Gilmour, and Bridgeman; government paper on reduction of expenditure in 1928.
